I bought this shirt for my five year old son, who was in his first year of hockey. My husband and I felt this was a very important peice of protective gear for him especially considering the introductory skill level and the likelihood that many players would be falling and clumsily might bring their skate blades close to others' heads/necks. The shirt is a material like a rash guard but stronger and the neck part is reinforced with extremely strong protective material. This size shirt will last him through two seasons, so even though it was a bit pricey it does last. My son will be wearing one of these as long as he plays hockey!
