I bought this knife for opening boxes and bags at work. I thought since it was in the less expensive range of the spyderco line up and I bought it used through Amazon, that I wouldn't really mind getting it dirty. After using the UK Penknife for a few months I've taken a shining to it and although its a non locking knife (because UK laws are so astringent) I pretty much EDC it now. I found out about the Gin-1 steel and how it was the predecessor to the Japanese AUS steels and I still haven't seen any rust spots(with proper caring) and am enthused to trust Spyderco. I own various knives from other manufacturers, but 8 Spyderco models ranging from the cost effective Tenacious to the if not perfect, damn near perfect Manix2. Long story short you can count on Spyderco for a great product every time!
