Xs Big Dot Pinned S&W J-Frm/Rg Sp101 Review

Contrary to the picture, this sight is for a J frame S&W with a pinned sight (342PD in my case). The dot is large and very quick to pick up in normal or low light. Some might find it a little coarse for precision sight alignment, but for close range shooting, it is just about perfect. The only reason I gave it a 4 versus a 5 is that it takes a little work to install. The sight will probably require fitting before it will go into the factory dovetail. It took a little bit of work with a file to get it to fit. A drill press is also handy to have when you drill the 1/16" hole in the sight tenon through the holes in the barrel shroud. If you are careful, you could probably pull it off with a hand drill. Once it is installed, it seems very secure and likely to be servicable even affer the tritium has died - many years from now.
