Nice product ! Why did I pay more? Keep in mind this is not even mid price; some spelunking lights cost much more. One reason I bought this light is it is not made in China. I have nothing against Chinese people but until the government of China respects Tibet, that is stops beating them with clubs and attempting to replace their culture, I will buy products made else where even at premium prices.

This product seems to be made in Germany.

Now to the review:
The band is high quality. Does not require the top strap. Tilt mechanism high quality has a nice mechanical click. The wire to the battery pack is very thick and high quality. The switch is a large rubberized push button that is high quality.

The only iffy bit on the whole light is the little milk colored anti glare lens that you snap in place for working with others so the brightness of the LED is dissipated. The problem is it takes a while to learn how to take it off when you don't want to use it . The instructions are just pictures which is fine but they forgot to show the screw driver you will need to put in the slot. I use the one on my Swiss Army knife bottle opener. Don't twist ! ! ! Just push into the slot at an angle and when it goes in and under then slip the end of the plastic part off the light body. Be patient and then it will be easy ever after. You don't need this at all if working alone.

The light pattern on the surface you are looking at is very smooth and without a pattern other than a round shape.

This light has only one bulb you say. But is is a large one and concentrates all the energy of the batteries into a spot. This is just what I was looking for and it could not work better ! The bright setting is WOW ! and the dimmest setting is perfect for reading a book etc. The flash is handy if you get injured and need to attract attention.

I like it fine and I will buy another one for use at work.
