LEATHERMAN Juice Cs4 Multitool Review

My thoughts on the product
The Leatherman Juice CS4 serves as both my backpacking and everyday multi-tool. It spends most of its life nestled in my cargo pocket or wreaking havoc on loose screws, bolts, and unopened packages. I have touted the benefits to many of my friends and several have purchased this multi-tool. It does a wonderful job and I am glad to have had such a capable and good looking tool but upon somber reflection I have realized that there may be better tools out there now. What made me question my favorite multi-tool? It was a woman and a cheap bottle of wine. It all started on a cold, rainy evening... Today's wine bottles have moved largely to synthetic corks which are far more difficult to remove than real cork. If you use the corkscrew on the synthetic stoppers in conjunction with the lifter it will result in chipped glass on the spout. If you use the corkscrew without the lifter you will just look like an idiot who does not know how to open a bottle of wine. Even some of the dedicated tools used by wine servers are now antiquated due to the increased friction of modern synthetic corks. So unless you find a bottle with the real cork, the corkscrew on the CS4 is not particularly useful. And since I have no plans on relinquishing my cheap wine it would seem that the corkscrew on my CS4 has now become the appendix of my multi-tool. More annoying than the corkscrew is that the flat blade screwdrivers of the CS4 are excessively difficult to retrieve. They have small retrieval grooves for grasping and I find that I almost always cut the top knuckle of whichever finger I use to pry out the screwdriver blade. I say pry because I sometimes need a second tool (keys/coin) to fish them out. This is not a good design.

Conclusion
Though I have been pleased with its performance, if I lost my CS4 it would be replaced by something else. I believe that it would be replaced by either the Leatherman Skelitool or the Gerber Crucial. Both of have screwdrivers, pliers, a knife,(my most used tools) are half an ounce lighter, and neither of them have a corkscrew. They do lack the wood saw and the scissors. They do however have locking blades (a feature that I would greatly appreciate), and have a removable pocket/belt clips. Though the Crucial looks better, the winner in my mind is the Skelitool because it has replaceable bit drivers giving it more versatility and reducing the worries about using the flathead as a pry tool. If you love the form factor or the vibrant colors the Juice series, the S2 is a nice choice. It omits the corkscrew and the wood saw but shaves an ounce in the process. It also comes in a nice, easy to see if dropped, orange color.

A low four stars. I like this multi-tool but I feel that there are better options in the 5oz market such as the Skelitool or the Juice S2.

Bellwether - Distance Jersey, Black, 2XL Review

This jersey is the best in my collection. It is not the most expensive, but it is the one I grab as soon as it's out of the laundry. I prefer this one to my jerseys from Pearl Izumi, Descente, Primal, and Louis Garneau.

I normally wear XL and the fit for this jersey is right on the money. I wear a 17 1/2" collar and I can zip this thing up all the way and it stays comfortable that way, even on 3 - 4 hour rides. The gripper hem keeps the bottom in place all the time. The fabric wicks away perspiration very effectively, making it perfect for rides on warm or hot days (the white color fabric helps too). The zipper has never failed. The sleeves and the pockets are all cut well so I can reach things in my pockets while riding. The elastic on the pockets stays tight enough to keep things inside.

I've had my first one for over a year now, wearing it a couple times a week and it still looks and feels great. Other than a couple minor snags, this jersey shows no signs of wear and is holding up wonderfully. It is a complex weave fabric, so snags are possible, but I wouldn't say it's snag-prone. I'm going to buy a couple more to replace some of my other jerseys that don't fit and wear so well.

Women's UA EVO ColdGear® Longsleeve Mock Tops by Under Armour Review

This is a nice, bright shirt I use for biking. I use it as my third/fourth layer when riding in the winter (tank top, short-sleeved summer shirt, this shirt, coat). I like it because I ride my bike on the street and I want something bright.

I have found, however, sizing is always funny with sports clothes. I am about 5'6, 145-150lbs and I am a large to extra large in most sports clothes when I am a med-larg in normal clothes. I got a large and it is (as advertised) fitted but not tight - which is perfect for keeping you warm, getting some layers under and yet being fitted enough not to get in your way when active. Be warned, the neck might be a little tight when you are putting it on, but, once in the shirt, everything fits good and it's a go-to piece for my winter biking rides.

2009/10 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Hobby Box Review

Back in May, I purchased two boxes of 2009-10 Upper Deck Hockey Series II. My purchase was driven by my hopes of pulling a Braden Holtby rookie card, as I am a Caps fan. Alas, I did not pull one. Nevertheless, I found that the hits were pretty solid overall. Each box yielded the requisite six young guns rookies (1 in 4 packs), but no one overly exciting. I pulled a few key rookies from the Victory inserts that come 1 in 1; each box yielded a black Victory rookie card as well. The jersey pulls were not exciting, but nice to pull nonetheless. I give the product four stars because boxes are moderately priced (you have a good chance of paying for the box), the card design is quite attractive, and you still have a chance to pull some high dollar inserts. I would definitely break this stuff again.
